♫ Let's Go Fly a Kite...♫♪

Sammy carefully holds on to his first kite. "Thanks G'ma Karen for the Buzz Lightyear kite." Just recently Mark and I facilitated a Sunday School class on discipline by Dobson. Very good! So much to learn. He paraphrased an analogy by Erma Bombeck which I will attempt to share here. She likened children to kites. You work so hard to get it just right so that it will fly; making the tail just long enough; the shape of it just right to catch the wind. Finally, it flies just right. Then a gust of wind takes hold and you let the string out longer and longer. It's flying so well despite big gusts of wind taking it this way and that. All of a sudden you're at then end of the string and the kite is really pulling. You realize it's time. It is time to cut the string and let it be free to fly on its own. As we raise our kids we need to be there to guide them through the gusts; big and little. Then we must cut the string and let them be free; praying all along that they survive the big gusts and find true freedom in Jesus.
